Sick Day

From CR-48

So I am getting over a small cold that I somehow contracted over the weekend. At least, I am pretty sure it's a cold. Anyway, I figured it was another opportunity to put the CR-48 through another round of trials. My first inclination was to fire up Hulu and see if I can stream some decent video. I was really hoping that my experience with Hulu would be better than my last attempt; for the most part, it wasn't. The loading animation was skippy, which did not bode well. And sure enough, the video was less than smooth. About on-par with my streaming video experiences with other netbook-spec laptops. With those, going full screen or increasing the size of the video often exacerbated the poor performance. The same holds true with the CR-48. GOing full screen in fact made matters worse (at the very least, it made the skippiness more apparent). Interesting, though, was the way that Chrome OS treated Hulu's "pop-out" feature. As with other notifications and Google Talk windows, the popped-out video appeared as a small window stuck to the bottom of the screen. Which, as with the aforementioned pop-ups, stays in front of whatever main browser window you are using. Which, I have to say, is pretty cool; as I am actually watching Hulu whilst writing this post.

I should also note that tweetdeck continues to malfunction and is basically unusable. It is displaying nothing but black in the main window as well as notifications. And as I type, blogger says an error has occurred and the auto save failed. Not wanting to lose my post, I just opened up a scratchpad app window (pop-up) and copy & pasted my text there. Pretty handy, quick solution. There seems to be a "save" icon in this window, but I am not sure where this text will be saved.... Apparently it seems that these notes are saved within the scratchpad app. Not sure if it is saved locally or if it is up in the cloud somewhere.

Either way, it looks like the blogger window crashed because I can't save or publish the post. I guess it's a good thing I copied over to another app so I can reload blogger and get this thing posted...
